Today at the Weeks Hall of Engineering at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, Drone Tech Navigators Academy had an incredible opportunity to lead a hands-on Drone Programming Challenge with the young men of the New Brunswick Area NSBE Jr. Chapter.
This impactful partnership—bringing together the National Society of Black Engineers (Rutgers Chapter), The Links Incorporated (Central New Jersey Chapter), and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. New Brunswick Alumni Kappa League—continues to create powerful pathways for student success.
During this 2.5-hour immersive workshop, students:
Explored drone career pathways and connections to college STEM degrees
Learned drone theory, flight mechanics, and coding fundamentals
Used the Go-Tello App to program drones
Programmed drones using the Go-Tello App
Completed a real-world construction site center survey mission:
Created and showcased their own mission videos
Produced and showcased mission-based video projects
We wrapped up the session with a fun and competitive Kahoot review, and two students walked away with DIY Drone Kits 🏆
The creativity, teamwork, and execution were impressive—the student videos were truly outstanding!
Special thanks to our partners:
